How we choose partners
The guides on this site name real brands: meal-delivery services, protein powders, lab tests. Some of those brands run affiliate programs. These are the rules any brand has to meet before we recommend it, whether or not it ever pays us.
Where things stand today
We are not in any affiliate program yet. No link on this site pays us anything today, and every brand link goes to the brand’s own website. If that changes, the standards below apply from the first link.
Used personally, or label-verified
We only recommend something I’ve used myself, or something whose numbers we’ve checked against the brand’s own published label or menu. When we’ve done one but not the other, we say which. I’ve paid for Factor, Fuel Meals and FlexPro; the protein powders in our guide are label-verified, not all personally used.
Rankings are never sold
No brand can pay for a better position, a better score or a mention. Where we rank anything, it’s sorted by a number anyone can check (protein per 100 kcal, cost per 25 g of protein), and we show how that number was calculated.
Commission is always disclosed
If a link earns us a commission, it will say so next to the link, not only on a separate page. Every guide that mentions a brand carries a disclosure at the top, and the full details are on our affiliate disclosure page.
Links open the brand’s own site
No redirect pages dressed up as reviews, no pop-ups, no link cloaking. You land on the brand’s website and deal with them directly.
No user data is shared with partners
Your profile, logs, lifts and bloodwork in Built and Shaped are stored on your own device, with no server-side copy, so there’s nothing for us to hand over, and we never would. A partner learns only what you choose to tell them when you visit their site.
No numbers we can’t source
Every figure in a guide comes from a brand’s published label, menu or price, with the date we checked it. If a number isn’t published, we leave the cell blank rather than estimate it. If a label doesn’t add up, we say so.
Nothing that conflicts with the apps’ standards
Built and Shaped are natural-first coaching. We won’t promote performance-enhancing products, and we won’t make or repeat medical claims about anything we recommend.
We’ll change our minds in public
If a product changes its formula, its label or its terms, or stops meeting these rules, we update or remove the recommendation and note the date.
Questions or corrections
Spotted a number that doesn’t match a brand’s current label? Tell us and we’ll check it and fix it. Brands asking about partnerships can reach us through the contact page; asking won’t change a ranking.
